San Diego Trip

I finally decided to live and stop trying to take all of the pictures. I don’t have any pictures from the beginning of our trip but below is a snap shot of our date night, the zoo and the baseball game. We had a blast and my son was able to hang out with his uncle, aunt and fur cousins 🙂

Date Day

  1. Looking at Hotel del Coronado
  2. Wondering around Waterfront Park Area
  3. Werewolf in Gaslamp District

My sister-in-law said it best: You can capture the image but you’ll never be able to share the feelings you experienced so enjoy the moment!

Day Trip – Monterey, CA

Hubby surprised us with a day trip to Monterey! It was a complete mystery until we were about 1/3 of the way there. Then I found out while navigating. Even though I was getting over a bad virus and hubby felt awful, we had a great time. Here’s what the view looked like 🙂

That’s a cold sore not a booger!

Movie Date

Thursday I talk to my mom who tells me they want the mini for the weekend. We happily agree and make arrangements. We knew we were going to see Black Panther but decided the mini was too young to attend based on what others were saying so this was the perfect opportunity to see it.

Friday we buy our tickets in advance in order to get decent seats; YAY seat selector!

20180228_084122.jpg

Saturday is finally here. It’s cheat, movie and kid-free day!! Yes I only count Saturday as kid-free because we dropped him off Friday and would be picking him up Sunday. I’m thinking what could go wrong?! We already bought our tickets, my hair was pre-poo’ed and we had snacks ready to eat. All was going as planned. While hubby relaxed and snacked I started on my hair. This is when it all went down hill. I was getting ready to dry my hair when the plug to my dryer fell in water (no worries I’m fine). I started to panic because this is the only dryer that is both fast and straightens. I could either find an alternate or panic. Well I multi-tasked and did both.

Message_1519586946967.jpg

I panicked, decided my hair couldn’t be fought and came up with a plan B. Plan B was detangling, moisturizing, braiding in 4 big braids and covering it with a knit hat. I was only a quarter of the way done when I saw the time and knew I had to go so we weren’t late. I put all the items above in my backpack purse, picked out my knit hat and ran out the door. I had to finish my hair and put on makeup while in the car and before anyone else could see me. First I set up all the products then realized it was horribly unsafe to put all the products out as one could roll under the brake and prevent us from being able to stop. After re-positioning everything I got to work. Right as I was parting my hair, I look up to see a homeless man staring directly at me either wondering what I’m doing or thinking I’m insane. Light is green and we’re off. I’m now in a showdown with my edges and finally success! I win 🙂 As we enter the parking garage, I’m freaking out because my brows already struggle under normal conditions and I could only imagine what horror the light would reveal once I entered the theater. Turns out I did a decent job but I put on my sunglasses just in case.

Finally we sit down to enjoy the movie; EARLY might I add. The movie was both visually appealing and spoke to me in a way I didn’t expect. Even hubby thought the story line was one of Marvel’s best. I’m torn whether or not to do a full on movie review as I am sure there are tons out there but I might do a His/Her review anyways. All in all this was a very amusing yet emotional movie date.

Ikea Date

Not all dates are created equal but ALL dates can be fun! We relaxed, ate, measured the bathroom then went to Ikea. I like to call this a working date because we gathered a lot of ideas and created a plan for updating/ remodeling our house.

The food: Ethiopian deliciousness!!

Below are a bunch of things we found/ are budget friendly. We have no idea which ones will make the cut but the pictures below reflect what we liked.

All in all these are just ideas and inspiration which I am sure will change as we get to the research/development phase. But this was a lovely date with my man. It helped me get back to being a wife and not just mom all the time. It also reminded me why I chose this man and why he chose me. He’s amazing and the perfect balance to my brand of crazy 😉

I don’t really have a good reason for this video as we have no plans of buying the light but we both love playing with it!

  3. Wrote this on my arm so I didn’t have to keep opening Pinterest
  4. We alerted this since we kept going in circle
  5. We did then we restarted on foot!!

Likes

  • Fun & interesting
  • Cheap as long as you have gas
  • Restarting on foot was great exercise and added a bit of intrigue as we’d never walked the area before

Dislikes

  • Can be annoying when you keep going in circles
    • this is why we altered it a bit
  • Better if you start in an area you aren’t familiar with
  • You should eat first to avoid being hangry… See last picture for our hangry fix:)

Though beautiful to look at in person, we went by this same building 3x

My Notes for Thor Ragnarok

Audience: May not be suitable for children that scare easily

Bonus Scenes: Stay all the way until after the credits roll (all of them). Yes I know most people know this however due to the shocking number of people that left the theater I figured it would be worth mentioning

Quick Opinions:

  • definitely my favorite Thor movie
  • it is way funnier than the previous Thor movies
  • holds my attention without feeling rushed or dragging
  • Hela is awesome!!! In a villain kind of way 😉
  • Grandmaster is hilarious and very colorful
  • snacks of some kind are a must because this, like other Marvel flicks, is a long movie

Cooking with YouTube – Pupusas

Hubby was having a rough week and I had leftover shredded BBQ beef so I figured I’d surprise him with a tasty meal that had yummy childhood memories attached to it. I’ve done this before when a friend’s mom showed me years ago but they didn’t turn out very flavorful when I tried to cook them on my own. Fast forward a few years, loving motivation and a few YouTube videos and voila flavorful hubby approved pupusas!

I didn’t take step by step pictures because well I forgot… But here they are 🙂 Yes, my photography skills need work but I’ll improve.

Top left: what it looks like before I flip it to finish cooking plus one in the back that has been flipped

Top right/ Bottom left: finished product

Bottom right: finishing the last one that came out just perfect

Ingredients:

  • homemade shredded BBQ beef
    • funny story it was supposed to be pulled pork but I grabbed the wrong meat because I was rushing to get out of Costco. I didn’t realize my error until it was time to put it in the crockpot
  • mozzarella cheese
  • outside/ shell: Maseca Instant Corn Masa Flour, chicken broth (water can be used but mine taste better using broth) & cayenne

Wedding Ring

PhotoGrid_1506977475679.jpg

What my husband said:

  • It’s just a ring
  • It’s not a big deal
  • It’s not like you did it on purpose
  • I wanted to upgrade you anyways now I’ll just be doing it sooner

What I said:

  • It was my ring though
  • I think it’s a big deal
  • No but I should’ve taken it in for maintenance like they recommended
  • Really?!

I was thrilled when he said he wanted to upgrade my ring but then we went shopping… While going from store to store I thought about the whole day surrounding actually getting my ring. We took off of work, got the marriage license then headed to the store to look at rings and I ended up getting it right then and there 🙂 I was so happy and replacing the ring felt like I was trying to replace memories so I stopped looking. Hubby came up with the bright idea to double check the warranty even though it technically expired. Well guess what Le Vian has a lifetime warranty! It is going to take a while to get it back and I was without it during our anniversary but I’ll still have my ring. My memories remain intack and when I eventually get an upgrade it’ll be a fun surprise rather than a replacement 🙂

Family Day Date

As I write this, I’m listening to The Point Of It All by Anthony Hamilton on Pandora. This song sums up how I feel about my little family. I love when we’re together; that’s why I chose to make this a Family Day Date instead of a Date Night post. Call me mushy but with everything going on in the world I find my family to be a refuge thus I’m taking advantage of it by having a family date. Now to the post!

We decided to take our own family pictures because budgeting… The perfect backdrop was the beach. It had a combination of water and sand along with trees and dirt. It also gave us flexibility since we could bring our own lunch, E could move around (somewhat) freely and it still felt kind of romantic. Plus it was cheat day and this was the perfect environment for bad snacks.

Below is E and I goofing around in an attempt to get him to smile for the pictures.

The picture below is of one of the elephant seals. There were warning signs every where saying to stay away from them and not to approach for any reason because they’re aggressive. They were minding their own business while sunbathing and besides the dead pup all seemed tranquil. With that said we still gave them the respect and room they deserve because wild animal.

These pictures are of the beautiful scenery.

All in all this was a great day. Hubby and I were able to relax during the drive up because E fell asleep and stayed that way for most of the drive. We had a pit stop so I could nurse E and grab a few things we forgot. Arrived at the beach which was unusually busy because of some sort of tour but not too many people were on the beach because of the elephant seals. We took all of the pictures we wanted then ate snacks and relaxed. It was the perfect family day date.

Cooking with Pinterest

For most of my life I’ve had little to no interest in cooking. Sure I loved to eat but I had no desire to be the one cooking it. I viewed cooking as something I had to do rather than something I wanted to do. Here’s my timeline for somewhat reluctantly developing my cooking skills:

wp-1478559311232.jpeg

The only thing that really helped me to learn more was motherhood. Now that my son is here, I keep picturing him going over someone’s house and saying his mommy can’t cook like this. Or worse him not wanting to come home because mommy’s food sucks. I should say I’m not a terrible cook just an uninterested one. I could always cook simple things like baked chicken, most items from a box and rice among other things but I’ve never really enjoyed it. However my paranoia, son and new job (Domestic Engineer) have all helped to make me care. I owe a huge thanks to Pinterest for having tons of fun easy things to experiment with. I’ve been having so much fun cooking using different recipes that I wanted to dedicate an entire post to what I’ve been up to in the kitchen.

Same recipe I mentioned before except I adjusted the measurements to accommodate the amount of pumpkin I had left overwp-1478417370727.jpeg

Most people I know have cooked one or both of these but this was my first time trying itwp-1478417138048.jpeg

Simple, easy and tastywp-1478416830520.jpeg

I would definitely consider this a fad but it was fun to do this using only the microwave

Side note I have a Pinterest addiction in case you couldn’t tell 😉
